About Us
Jake: I was born into a church planting family. Growing up in church, I heard the gospel and had it explained to me many times. However, when I was four years old, after completing a bible study, I realized my sin and my hopelessness without the sacrifice of Jesus. It was then that I trusted in Jesus as my Savior.
Hali: When I was five years old, my best friend accepted Christ as her Savior and everyone was so excited for her that I decided I wanted to be saved too. Being a pastor’s kid I could give all the right answers and I convinced everyone that I had given my life to Christ. However, I knew the truth. It was not until I was 12 that I truly repented and asked Christ to be the Lord of my life. At the time I was too afraid to tell anyone because I was fearful of what they would think. I kept it a secret for 4 years until at 16, I finally shared with everyone the truth about my salvation experience and was baptized.
Our Calling
God laid on our hearts to plant churches while we were getting to know one another at Bible college. Specifically, we felt the call to start churches in places where the gospel witness was the lowest.
We prayed for many different areas that we felt God was placing on our hearts and after many months of diligent seeking, we came across some statistics done by a Christian research group. This study found that the Bay Area of California is the least churched area in our nation.
God would not allow us to forget this great need for more churches so we have committed to start multiple churches there in the Bay Area of California.
MINISTRY EXPERIENCE
We both grew up in pastors homes. Jacob's dad planted churches in Texas, Hawaii & Indonesia. Hali’s dad was a pastor in Texas and has served for many years on staff at a Baptist College.
After being married for a year, we moved to Port Clinton, Ohio to help start a church with another couple. We were blessed to see God take Lake Point Baptist Church from just a handful of members to a grown up church able to call a full-time pastor. Lake Point Baptist Church is still going strong today and is our sending church.
Branches Baptist Church
Our first church plant in San Francisco is Branches Baptist Church. Jesus called his followers Branches in John 15:5 and we want to bear much fruit for him.
The first plant is getting started in the Sunset District of San Francisco. The Sunset is the largest neighborhood in San Francisco and also one that contains many SF natives. It is an exciting place to make a lasting impact in SF.
